I love Paris in the winter

Everybody is complaining about the weather. Not because of the drizzle or the grey skies this time, but because of the snowfall. It has been snowing for 24 hours straight in the city of lights. Incredible. And I am loving every moment of it.

Yesterday, I ventured out defying the elements - feeling quite at home - to take some photos. Never mind my freezing fingers, I love Paris in the winter. It feels so much more Parisian. The snow scares away drivers and tourists alike. The flakes cover the town with a quiet blanket of white serenity that you rarely witness not to mention the change of colour (from grey to white) which combined with the lovely architecture creates a very romantic atmosphere.

The Parisian busily step around puddles and patches of ice bundled up in enormous woolen scarfs and fashionable winter hats and you can feel a very subtle sense of solidarity. The French can finally come to a consensus: winter needs to be defied once and for all..... it is after all mid-March and we are still stomping through sleet and ice at -3°C.
